PGY-II Rotations

A. General Medical Service, supervising resident

1. One month

2. Five calls per month covering General Medical Service.

3. See above description (Section III. A.)

B. Medical Intensive Care Unit

1. One month.

2. PGY-II residents supervised by a pulmonary fellow and pulmonary attending.

3. Every fourth or fifth night call, back up by in-house supervising resident.

4. Sixteen bed unit, each resident responsible for an average of four patients. 

5. Daily attending rounds.

6. Extensive experience with invasive procedures including central lines, arterial lines, ventilators and Swann-Ganz catheters.

C. Coronary Care Unit

1. One month.

2. Fellow and attending.

3. Every fourth night.

4. Six acute beds and more telemetry beds. 
Cover both the acute patients and the telemetry unit.

5. Daily attending rounds.

6. Extensive experience with invasive hemodynamic monitoring and interventional cardiology.

D. Oncology Inpatient Ward

1. One month.

2. Two to three PGY-II residents with call every fourth night, supervised 
by an Oncology fellow and an Oncology attending.

3. Every fourth night.

4. Supervised by oncology fellow, oncology attending, and general medicine attending.

5. Comprehensive, multi-specialty care of patients and oncologic problems.

E. Geriatrics

1. One month.

2. 4-5 calls per month covering MICU and CCU.

3. Mornings spent at MHMC's Skilled Nursing Facility.

4. Afternoons at MHMC Geriatric Assessment Clinic, home visit, nursing home visits or reading time.

F. Electives

1. Five months: chosen from medical subspecialties, non-medical services or research.

2. Average 4 - 5 calls per month.

G. Continuity Clinic

1. One-half day per week during Floor (with Urgent Visits as needed for own patients), MICU, CCU, ED. Two half-days during elective months.

H. Vacation: Four weeks
