The 340B Program and Its Intersection with The Drug Price Relief Act

The intent of this presentation is to share background on how the 340B program is an important component in supporting the delivery of care for Ohio’s safety net providers. In addition, we will explore how participants in the program and the patients they serve will be negatively impacted if Issue 2: The Drug Price Relief Act passes in November.


Michael Dalton is the Director for State Government Relations at The MetroHealth Medical Center where he is primarily responsible for advancing and protecting the priorities of the health system in Columbus. Prior to joining MetroHealth in February of 2017, Michael worked seven years at Summa Health in Akron where he most recently served as the System Director of Government Relations. He was responsible for developing and leading the health policy priorities for the health system and advocating for them at all levels of government.  Before his work in healthcare, he had a variety of work experiences in the political and public service arenas. He served as District Director for Congresswoman Betty Sutton as well as campaign coordinator for her successful 2008 reelection campaign. He also served as Election Services Coordinator for the Summit County Board of Elections after his work on the Ted Strickland for Governor Campaign as a campaign coordinator. Michael earned his master’s degree at Case Western Reserve University in Positive Organizational Development and Change. He earned his bachelor’s degree from The University of Akron where he majored in Political Science.
