The Return on Investment of Medicaid Expansion
January 20, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
As a requirement of the state’s last budget, the Ohio Department of Medicaid was required to assess several aspects of the policy decision to expand Medicaid coverage to low-income non-disabled childless adults. With a new congress, a Trump administration focused on reform, and with the termination of the Kasich administration’s oversight of Medicaid, will the results of this study influence the decisions of policymakers? What did the assessment say and what were the outcomes? What is on deck in terms of policy on the state and national levels?
Loren Anthes, Healthcare MBA and Fellow in the Center for Medicaid Policy at the Center for Community Solutions, has held a number of positions in government and the private sector working on public policy, specifically in the area of Medicaid. His presentation will provide attendees with a background on Medicaid in Ohio, the results of the state’s assessment on Medicaid expansion, and what some of the policy proposals on the state and federal levels may mean for human service professionals, medical practitioners, and the community at-large.
